Catherine Henry Lawyers and its principal, Catherine Henry, have been recognised for the eighth consecutive year in the prestigious Doyle’s Guide list of NSW’s top medical negligence compensation lawyers and law firms.
Catherine has been recognised as a recommended Leading Medical Negligence Compensation Lawyer (Plaintiff) for 2024. She is one of only three regional NSW lawyers featured among the 15 distinguished medical negligence practitioners in the state.
The firm was also honoured as a recommended Leading Medical Negligence Compensation Law Firm (Plaintiff) for 2024, with only 12 firms making the list.
These listings place the regional NSW-based health law firm alongside some of the most well-known and established firms and lawyers in Sydney.
Catherine noted that people in regional, rural, and remote NSW face significant barriers to accessing healthcare and often experience poorer health outcomes compared to those in capital cities.
“We are committed to ensuring that those in these communities receive exceptional legal support when they have experienced substandard medical treatment,” Catherine said.
“Everyone should have access to quality health law services, no matter their postcode, and we are here to advocate for that,” she said.
Catherine emphasised that continuing to make the prestigious lists is a testament to the dedication and expertise of her health and medical law team, which she leads alongside Special Counsel Niall Connolly, an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law.
“Together, Niall and I bring over 70 years of experience in health and medical law,” Catherine said.
“Additionally, one of our senior health lawyers also worked as a nurse and midwife for 17 years prior to becoming a lawyer,” she added.
“With our collective expertise, we have a deep understanding of the healthcare system, which allows us to ask the right questions and quickly get to the core of the issue—often faster than other firms,” Catherine said.
The firm’s current and recent cases are helping clients with medical negligence claims in areas including cosmetic and plastic surgery, aged care negligence, mental health and psychology, reproductive health, pregnancy and obstetric care, delayed and misdiagnosis, dental care, and coronial inquests.
Catherine said that helping clients with healthcare complaints or pursuing legal action for medical negligence provides them with much-needed answers. It can also lead to compensation for their pain and suffering, lost income—both current and future—and cover medical expenses and daily living costs moving forward.
“By holding medical professionals accountable, we not only seek justice and compensation for our clients but also help raise the standard of care across the healthcare system,” she explained.
The 2024 listing of leading Plaintiff-focused New South Wales Medical Negligence & Malpractice Compensation Lawyers details solicitors and law firms practising within the areas of medical negligence and malpractice matters in the NSW legal market who have been identified by the state’s defendant insurance lawyers for their expertise and abilities in these areas.
