About Niall
Niall is a Special Counsel in the firm’s highly regarded Health Law team.
Niall was admitted to legal practice in NSW in 1994. He has had extensive experience as a litigator working across a wide range of matters in multiple Australian jurisdictions including medical negligence claims, common law personal injury, catastrophic injury claims, and work health damages claims, dust diseases and administrative law (judicial review) matters.
Niall comes from a medical family and he has chosen to specialise in the field of medical negligence law during the course of his career. He has a highly developed knowledge of medical negligence litigation and in particular, an understanding of the medicine and science that applies to a particular claim, working out ‘what went wrong’ in a particular case, communicating with experts to obtain supportive evidence, drafting court documents commencing legal claims and endeavouring to resolve matters as promptly as possible. Niall’s medical negligence claims experience includes surgical negligence, delayed diagnosis of illness, obstetrics and birth trauma and mental harm (nervous shock).
Niall has worked for plaintiff litigation firms in Sydney since he was admitted to practice and also worked on his own account as a sole practitioner. He also worked for 5 years in the Northern Territory in a special counsel role in the largest law firm in Darwin which encompassed a range of litigation practice areas, locally and in Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland and Tasmania. He enjoys the practice of law.
Niall has a reputation as a knowledgeable, precise and tenacious legal practitioner who cares about his clients and has a strong desire to help make a positive difference in their lives after their trauma, both physical and mental.
