Leading regional NSW health and relationship law firm, Catherine Henry Lawyers, is again a finalist in the upcoming Hunter Business Awards.
The firm is in the running for the Contribution to the Region award after being a three-time finalist last year.
CEO Stephen Phillips said Principal Catherine Henry and the team are passionate about acting upon the firm’s vision and purpose every day – which is to make a positive difference to the lives of our clients, our people and the broader community by addressing essential needs through our advocacy work and quality services.
The National Justice Project, Justice Connect, Hunter Ageing Alliance, Women Lawyers NSW and its Newcastle chapter, and The University of Newcastle Law School and its Empower program for students, are just some of the legal and community organisations, charity support, and community campaigns the firm is involved in.
Mr Philliips said the firm is also a Founding Ambassador for Newcastle’s Victoria Theatre restoration and a long-time sponsor of the Newcastle Writers Festival and The Equal Futures Project’s Newcastle International Women’s Day Breakfast.
He said Ms Henry is a tireless advocate for health care and aged care reform and is a spokesperson on these issues for the Australian Lawyers Alliance (ALA). Her decades of involvement in community issues saw her win the national ALA Civil Justice Award in 2020.
Mr Phillips said the firm was also contributing to regional communities by bringing locally based law services, particularly in health law and elder law, usually only available from capital city law firms, and we are increasingly being sought out for our excellent work in family law. The firm is the current winner of the Australian Law Awards Best Regional/Suburban Law Firm Award. Mr Phillips said that the firm seeks to leverage its entwined involvement with the legal community and its civic associations to seek justice and bring about change that enriches lives and relationships within our society.
“We are continuing to expand services to ensure people in regional NSW have access to the best representation possible,” Mr Phillips said.
“We continue to advocate for a better deal for people in regional NSW in terms of access to quality health and aged care and other issues that are important to them,” he said.
“Our free eBooks, podcast and webinars also help community members to better under the law, how it affects them, and how it can help them.”
The annual Hunter Business Awards are presented by Business Hunter.
Business Hunter CEO Bob Hawes said this year’s awards were the most contested yet in the award’s 41-year history. More than 170 entries were judged across 16 categories.
The awards night will be held in Newcastle on 26 August 2022. Tickets can be purchased here.
