Tom Hunter-Leahy is a Solicitor in our health law team
Tom joined Catherine Henry Lawyers in 2015 as an alumnus of the University of Newcastle. In late 2015, Tom completed his Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law and was admitted to the Supreme Court to practice law in NSW. Tom specialises in medical negligence and aged care law.
Unfortunately, legal action is often the last resort of traumatised people, to ensure that they are fairly compensated for personal injuries suffered as a result of substandard care and treatment at the hands of hospitals, doctors, allied health professionals and aged care facilities. These cases often involve a fight at several different levels – not just with the doctor or facility responsible, but also with their professional indemnity insurer and various layers of bureaucracy. Tom believes it’s important that clients are not overwhelmed by legal jargon, so he makes sure clients understand everything in practical and simple terms.
Philosophy
“I am conscious that our legal system can seem daunting to those who need it most. My role is to advocate for ageing Australians and victims of medical negligence.”
