Cathy Lyons is a Clinical Consultant in the Health Law team and holds a Bachelor of Nursing, Graduate Diploma in Acute Care Nursing and Certificate in Business from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Her experience as a clinical nurse specialist and practice across many areas of medicine allows her to impart a sympathetic and practical understanding of the difficulties that can arise in the course of treatment. She also has an intimate understanding of the interface between the health system and compensation issues, which has been complemented by several years spent working for a major insurer.
Cathy’s clinical experience spans surgery, intensive care, anaesthetics and recovery and general medical areas. She understands the issues which confront both doctors and administrators of health systems, which allows insight into the decisions which are made in a high pressured clinical environment. She has experience in the legal system and has spent significant time developing and presenting medical training for use in the insurance and clinical arenas.
Cathy aims to help clients with a better understanding of their medical history and believes that through this a better outcome will be achieved. The experience Cathy has gained in the medical field allows her to quickly navigate health issues so as to lead promptly to successful compensation claims when warranted. She prides herself on her forthright and effective interpersonal skills and believes that her job as Clinical Consultant is a fundamental step in resolving medical issues of concern.
Cathy is a mother to small four children and enjoys spending time at the beach in the summer and on the snowfields in the winter.
